Daily Luxe: Calvin Klein ck2

April 15, 2016

As embarrassing as it is, outliving the iconic Calvin Klein ck one from the early 90s absolutely marks the fact that I’m an (early) millennial. Twenty years (!!!) after most of us met ck one, Calvin Klein comes back strong with another iconic scent that ultimately breathes of today’s youth: it’s bold, free, diverse, thrilling experiences are amplified by the connections between two people.

today’s youth for ck2

ck2 is dubbed to be a dual-faceted scent that appeals to both genders while balancing two opposing forces: the strike of spicy electric freshness and the warmth of magnetic woods. a signature fragrance for an urban, alternative, new freshness. Before spraying the scent for the first time, I was hoping it’s fits my personality. There are days when I’m all girly, some days when I like wearing it rough, some preppy, some really buttoned up. All the possibilities were quickly ringing in my head since as a ck one fan, I know how long I can possibly stick to a fragrance if it works for me. I also travel a lot and bringing multiple scents on 2 week trips is both impractical and tad tasking.

today’s nearly gender-free essentials

First impression on this urban, woody fresh scent? It’s very clean and reminds me so much of my wonderful downtown LA vacations! It smells best directly on skin. A quick runner up will be a pure cotton, white shirt. Its top notes comprise of wasabi, mandarin, and violet leaf absolute. The mandarin speaks a lot to me, it’s very fruity-fresh. After hours of wear, the mid and bottom notes start to bubble up (mid – wet cobblestones, orris concrete, rose absolute; bottom – sandalwood, vetiver, incense). I can see myself wearing this scent through and through. Asking Mr. Man and my brother, they said they’d wear this too during cooler months since the sandalwood is too strong for the current melt-worthy Manila weather.

ck2 is now available locally in three EDT spray sizes: 30ml – PHP 2498, 50ml – PHP 3198, and 100ml – PHP 4298.
