Buku Buku Kafe: A Well-Kept Southern Secret

When in SM Southmall, you just have to chill at this super cozy cafe. I first got lost in it by accident. I was on the road asking a friend to get me comfort food and this is where she brought me. The second time? I spent hours and hours noshing on great food (and coffee, no less) and endless conversations with a good friend, N and the restaurant owner, Jessica Santiago.

First thing that came to mind: the second floor's perfect to host a planner party! Here's the view from (literally) the top:

Love smart and industrial fixtures!

My friend N and I have matching appetites. ;-)

That HUGE plate? It's the Big Man's Breakfast.

N had a hearty penne pasta (I think this was the pesto Bicolano) that kind of slowed me down through the holiday madness. I can totally imagine myself having this on a bad day to give me that warm, hugging feeling in a bite.

I had the pasta above, the Shiitake Chorizo Truffle. I liked this the first time I tried it and didn't have second thoughts having it again. Highly recommended for those who do not like their pasta plain and dainty!

We also had the refreshing Asian Kani. It's very generous in serving and its flavours were bursting bite after bite. Totally getting again this on my next visit for me, myself, and I.

For me, no meal's ever complete without dessert. The kafe had two great chocolate offerings on our visit. The one on the left is their take on smores while on your right is a bar filled with childhood memories -- chocnut! I liked them both and took a bar of smores home too!

While you're at it, do check out this little corner. They sell some items from their friends that are great for both gifting and collecting.

Buku Buku Kafe is located at the Food Street of SM Southmall and The District Imus.
