Preview x Happy Skin Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Matte Lippies

There are 2 hard bounds in town that's on everyone's lips (pun intended).

It has the same content but comes in two snazzy covers, in nude (Too Cool) and maroon. I was gifted by Happy Skin the maroon "book" aptly called Hot Stuff.

Hot Stuff and Too Cool are the season collab offerings of two local powerhouses: Preview Magazine and Happy Skin. These "books" house the limited edition Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Matte Lippies that were just released to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the former, recognizing the Preview girl in all of us.

Cult-favorite makeup brand Happy Skin has an all-new pout product, and the finish is totally distinct from its current lineup of best-selling lippies! In a first, the skin-caring makeup brand collaborates with a print glossy in the creation of a beauty goodie that fans have been clamoring for since Happy Skin set up shop nearly two years ago: the Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Matte Lippie.

Because of its rich, velvety texture and striking pigment, the matte lippie is often viewed as the trendier counterpart of the lustrous lippie. When Pauline Juan, editor-in- chief of the Philippines’ style bible review, thought of the magazine’s first-ever lipstick collaboration to celebrate its 20 th anniversary this June, she knew that she wanted to work with Happy Skin’s best-selling lippies—and she definitely had her heart set on creating one in an edgier matte formula.
The packaging nut in me's all over these handy books -- they're perfect fittings to my fresh shelves concealing trinkets and whatnot. The illustrations are too shala while the gold trims just brought house down with its sliver of luxury.

More importantly, let's talk about the lippies. Stellar packaging is nothing if quality isn't half spectacular.

Since we met Happy Skin, this is the first time they came up with matte lippies. More than the formulation, can we talk about the smart and sleek names? It's worth noting that for the first time, the names of the lippies best describe its colour. :) Too Cool is a nude so gorgeous it can bring life to the smokiest eyes imaginable. It looks meh on the tube, almost unimaginable for a morena like me to wear but I was surprised to find a lot of good in it. In fact, it's very flattering to me -- it's the first nude and matte lippie I'm comfortable to apply without a mirror. Hot Stuff on the other hand as been my go to shade when I don't feel like wearing anything on my face but just my eyebrows and lips. It's a basic power look must have IMO. Good to know -- the key to making these work for one is to 1) maintain supple and flake-free lips and 2) have a light hand applying it in layers.

1 layer each of Too Cool and Hot Stuff

When I was in the US over the holidays, I hoarded on a few matte lippies and while it looked spectacular on photos, it made my lips crack and bleed out of severe dryness. :( While these matte lippies from Happy Skin don't stay as long  (3-4 hours crease-free wear tops) as my holiday picks, they're very comfortable to wear thanks to its miracle ingredient: CupuaƧu Butter. It promises to provide unrivaled hydration, making this the most mositurizing matte lippie we'll ever smear our lips with.

My favourite recipe: 3 layers of Too Cool topped with 2 layers of Hot Stuff
Too Cool (3 layers, 2 works best for me), Hot Stuff (3 layers)

The limited edition #PreviewXHappySkin Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Matte Lippies are now available for P599 each or P1,099/set of 2. The bonus? This collaboration also aspires to give back.
